Monstera Hybrid ‘Uno’™

Monstera “Uno”™, bred by Neil Paterson of Odd Spot Plants, is an exciting new release hybrid Monstera.

And what a journey! It’s taken over three years of late nights and experimentation to produce a successful hybrid.

It’s a hybrid between M. adansonii var laniata X M. deliciosa var borsigiana (aka Laniata X Albo). And it’s a “textbook” intermediate between the two parents.

Usually when breeding, you have hundreds of seeds. You grow them out and pick the best plants – not all will be strong, not all will be attractive. So, with just one seed, it was against the odds.

Neil, ever the optimist, put the seed in a pot and proceeded to germinate and care for that one seed. And that is how Monstera “Uno” came into existence. As it grew we realised it was pretty special – an attractive blend of both parent plants.

‘Uno’ is a very attractive foliage plant with a climbing habit, perfect for growing on a trellis or totem. It requires very similar care to other Monsteras and Aroids. Give it plenty of bright, indirect light and not too much water, and it will produce plenty of fabulous leaves for you (growing notes included with each purchase).

You will receive a plant similar to those pictured, we will select a nice one for you. Note the 30cm ruler for indication of size (the exact plant pictured may not be available by the time you order, photos are an example).
