My Plant Just Arrived – When Can I Pot Up?

  • April 23, 2021
Man potting up a plant in a 100mm pot

So, your plant has just arrived in the mail. Your excited and want to put your new plant baby on display.

You want to get the perfect photo to show off to all your friend on Instagram and Facebook.

You have the perfect pot picked out for it.

STOP…    WAIT…

Your new “baby” has just gone on a huge trip. It’s gone from its perfect home and into dark for a couple days, it’s been shook around and probably spent some of that time upside down. Have you ever been on a long-haul flight? Can anyone say “Jetlag”!

So, let’s put your new plant where you think it will grow best and give it two (2) weeks to recover. Yes, I know your eager but let’s think long term – two weeks and if it’s looking happy in it’s new spot, then and only then give it a new pot.

Most of the plants Odd Spot Plants sell are in pots and potting mix that will be good for several more months – so no rush.

And, we even advise this for plants you buy from your local nursery down the road – sure it’s not had the post but you’re still taking it to a new environment AND you don’t know what travels it’s had to arrive at your local nursery.

Happy Growing
Lisa
